The story was not thrown together, clearly Spiders put A LOT of thought into constructing it to be both engaging and sensical. Live service was never meant to make a great game, it's meant to satisfy you enough to promote recurring revenue. In AC Origins on the other hand I think it had a much better balance regarding quantity and quality of quests/sidequests. Sometimes it felt like too much work instead of having fun playing the game.
While in Odyssey there are so many quests getting thrown at you that doesn't matter the slightest overall. Every task you do in Greedfall has some meaning behind it and feels like it plays a (sometimes minor) role in it's entity. Imho Greedfall did that a 1000 times better than Odyssey. I like RPGs with a deep lore to get lost in and interesting quests/sidequests that tell a coherent story.
